The building automation system marketplace is going through a rapid wave of digitalization, and demand is increasing as end users and owner/operators increasingly focus on sustainability related issues like reducing energy consumption, net zero emissions, and preserving the health and safety of personnel. Many old BAS systems will have to be modernized to reach these goals, and the new wave of digitized and IoT-based building automation solutions is making it possible for end users to modernize legacy assets and make them part of a single, unified system with a single pane of glass for visualization, reporting, engineering, maintenance, and other functions. This session will discuss successful end user implementations of the new generation of building automation systems including justification based on sustainability-related metrics and KPIs.

We need to act fast. Despite progress, digital transformation is still very much a work in progress in industrial companies. Yet, the next wave of disruption is already cresting into industrial markets that are still dealing with pandemic-induced supply chain fragility and workforce shortages, exacerbated by global geopolitical conflict that we thought was a thing of the past.  This next one ― climate change ― might be the biggest disruptor of them all. We are in a critical time of action.

Richmond, VAJanuary 17, 2023 – The Project Haystack Organization (www.project-haystack.org), a 501(c) non-profit organization focused on developing common standards to streamline the interchange and interoperability of data among IoT devices, smart equipment and systems, has announced the dates and venue for its Haystack Connect 2023 Conference.

We are excited to announce that the Spring 2023 Connections Magazine is in development and we are issuing a Call for Contributed Articles from the community providing Haystack-compatible products and solutions around the world. It is scheduled to be published in March 2023. Connections Magazine, published bi-annually, documents how the Project Haystack community is applying or implementing the Haystack Tagging methodology in the building and facilities management industry. Facility owners, operators, managers and service companies recognize that a standardized approach to semantic data modeling is key to overcoming the hurdles related to effectively using the data produced by the built environment.

AHR Expo - Educational Session

February 6, 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Location: B309

Speakers: Alexander Rohweder and Richard McElhinneyProject Haystack

Data has never been more at the forefront within our built environment than today. Its role in managing and operating our buildings and facilities is no longer a nice to have but rather it is a must-have.

This session looks at the latest with Haystack 4, highlights some of the organization’s working group’s latest initiatives, and profiles two recent use cases where Haystack was an integral part of delivering outcomes. Furthermore, the session will provide guidance on how to make new and legacy products, systems, and applications off-the-shelf Haystack compatible; and how to leverage the available open-source libraries and documentation for that.
