Electric Vehicles (EVs) are now in demand! Building tenants increasingly want their landlords to offer them opportunities to recharge their EVs. According to McKinsey, “The electric-vehicle market in 2030 will require more than 55 million chargers in buildings, consuming at least 525 TWh per year.”
This demand for EV chargers will transform the built environment as we know it today. It will require a common means to describe EV chargers within the built environment to effectively manage this transition. Naturally, Project Haystack comes to mind as the way to a solution.
Recently, Working Group #982 was formed to define the units, tags, and other items related to working with device data from Level 2 AC and Level 3 DC Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). We recently introduced the equip ontology for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) which is now published into the Project Haystack docs. See the new docHaystack::EVSE chapter for the current proposed model.
We continue to welcome any feedback from the community on this latest proposal. Also, if you are interested in contributing to the working group, then please reach out to us here: https://project-haystack.org/forum/topic/982.
